Your chronograph measures the shot. VectorX remembers what fired it.
A chronograph knows the velocity and nothing else — not the charge, not the lot of powder, not which batch the round came from. Import the session and those numbers land against the exact recipe version, batch, and component lots that produced them. Average, standard deviation and extreme spread compute the moment it arrives.

Load recipes, versioned
Every recipe carries its source citation. Edit a recipe that has been loaded and VectorX creates a new version — the exact load behind every batch is preserved forever.
Full traceability
Recipe → batch → range results, linked end to end. Print a batch card with a QR code at the bench, scan it at the range, and the string logs against the exact rounds you fired.
Inventory that counts down
Powder, bullets, primers, and brass tracked by lot. Logging a batch decrements the components it consumed and flags shortfalls. Brass only counts as fired once you fire it, and recovered cases come home one firing higher. Delete a batch you never shot and it all goes back.
Chronograph statistics
Import a session from your chronograph or enter velocities shot by shot, and get average, extreme spread, and standard deviation per string — compared across loads and sessions.
Range log with ratings
Group sizes, star ratings, and conditions per string, rolled up to the recipe version that produced them — so load development decisions are based on records, not memory.

VectorX never generates, interpolates, or recommends load data. Your published reloading manual is the authority — the app records the data you enter from it and requires a source citation on every recipe.
Validation only compares your charge against the published range you entered, and warnings never silently block your work. Powder and bullet weights are always shown in grains, lengths in inches, velocities in feet per second — never a bare number without units.
I built the log I wanted, then published it.
I have written software for a living for fifteen years. That does not make me a better shooter. What it did mean is that when my own reloading records were spread across a notepad at the bench, a spreadsheet on the PC and my memory at the range — three sources that never quite agreed — I knew it was a solvable problem.
What I wanted was one record that travelled with me. Work a load up at the bench on a full-size screen, then have the same data in my pocket at the range: no transcribing, no notepad, no “I’ll write it up properly later”. Log the string where I shot it, against the exact rounds I fired.
I could not find that, so I built it. Once it was doing the job for me, keeping it to myself seemed a waste.
So the logbook is free, and it stays free. Not a trial and not a teaser: unlimited recipes, batches, inventory and range strings, chronograph import, QR batch labels and the full brass lifecycle — no ads, no tracking, no account required. If you never spend a cent, nothing switches off and nothing nags you.

Every charge you fired on one axis, each carrying its average, one standard deviation either side and the full extreme spread — plus the average group it put on paper. Marks are never joined between charges: nothing implies a value you didn’t fire.
Velocity against rounds through that barrel, with cleanings marked and every revision of a load on one chart, so a slow taper reads as throat wear rather than as a bad day at the range.
The range the truth actually sits in, given how many shots produced it. Where two charges overlap, your data cannot tell them apart yet — and the answer is more rounds, not a different charge. No other reloading log will tell you this.
Every chart below is drawn by the app from one worked example, followed from its first ladder to a settled node — nothing fitted, nothing projected, nothing suggested.

One mark per charge, carrying the average, one standard deviation either side, and the full extreme spread — in the app and in the printed load book. Tap a mark for the strings behind it. Marks are deliberately never connected between charges: nothing implies a value you didn’t fire. You read your own node; VectorX never points at one.
The other ladder — what it did on paper
Speed is only half the workup. The same charges, plotted by the average group you measured at each, so the charge that chronographs beautifully and shoots badly has nowhere to hide. Tap a dot for the individual groups. Both ladders build themselves from strings you already logged — there is nothing extra to enter.
Is it holding up?
Once a load is chosen the question changes from “which charge?” to “is it still doing what it did?” Speed, consistency and group size for that one load, string by string on a single time axis, with its record summarised above: strings, shots, smallest group, lowest SD and your average rating.
Development history
Every version of a load on one time axis — group size here, velocity SD on the chart beside it. Labeled bands mark each revision, lines break where the load changed, and a scoreboard states what changed and what each version recorded, flagging the best group and lowest SD of the whole lineage. Here, three revisions walk group size from 1.5 MOA to under 0.7.
Barrel life
Velocity against rounds through each barrel, with cleanings marked and the count since the last clean kept for you. Shoot the same load over the barrel’s life and a slow taper in your own chronograph numbers is the classic sign of throat wear — VectorX shows the record and leaves the reading to you.
